Studio 54 Radio is the Ultimate Classic Dance Experience. On August 4, 2016, Sirius XM will expand the format presentation of Studio 54 Radio to include Dance hits from the 1990s and 2000s due to the elimination of Utopia, which is moving to online only/modern SiriusXM Radios. It can also be heard on Dish Network channel 6054 (Hopper channel 99-54). On May 8, 2013, Sirius XM moved Studio 54 Radio from channel 15 to channel 54, putting it in line with the Sirius XM Dance channel line up and with its channel position to better match its branding. It features testimonials, talk shows, and live mixes from former employees and DJs of the nightclub.
Much like Sirius XM's other themed channels, Studio 54 Radio is based entirely around the Studio 54 theme and era.
Studio 54, unlike The Strobe, focuses on deeper disco cuts, rare mixes, and club classics. On August 15, 2011, Studio 54 Radio premiered. The last song on "The Strobe" before the change took effect was " Last Dance" by Donna Summer. It was replaced with Pearl Jam Radio, a channel playing the music of the band Pearl Jam. On Octoat 6 PM ET, "The Strobe" was removed from satellite broadcasts and will now only be heard online. On Septemat 9 AM, Beach Party Radio replaced The Strobe until Tuesday, September 7, 2010. On Jthough Jat 3 AM ET, Beach Party Radio again replaced The Strobe for the July 4th weekend. On through noon on June 1, 2010, Beach Party Radio replaced The Strobe for the Memorial Day Weekend. On January 15, 2009, The Strobe returned to the Sirius lineup and made its debut on XM (on XM83, where the similarly-formatted Chrome had been prior to the November 2008 channel realignment). On December 16, due to subscriber demand, Sirius XM Radio announced that the channel would be reactivated on January 15, 2009. We are increasing all of our financial guidance for 2021 and expect to add more than 1.1 million net new self-pay SiriusXM subscribers this year, making 2021 our best for self-pay subscriber growth since 2018.On November 12, 2008, The Strobe was eliminated from the Sirius lineup as a result of the Sirius/XM channel lineup reorganization. SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz said: “By adding a record 616,000 net new SiriusXM self-pay subscribers in the third quarter, we attained our prior full-year guidance of approximately 1.1 million net additions in just nine months. Quarterly net income of $343 million rose from $272 million.
SiriusXM’s total quarterly revenue of $2.2 billion was up 9 percent from the year-ago period, with adjusted earnings before interest interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization up 9 percent to $719 million. “Ad revenue also benefited from the acquisition of Stitcher in the fourth quarter of 2020.” “Ad revenue was boosted by strong monetization of $109 per thousand hours at Pandora, compared to $84 from the prior year period,” the company said. Third-quarter advertising revenue at Pandora jumped 32 percent to $404 million. The firm’s total SiriusXM users at the end of September stood at 34.3 million, including 32.0 million self-pay customers. The audio giant, controlled by John Malone’s Liberty Media, said that its core SiriusXM business lost 828,000 paid promotional subs. The company lost 59,000 net self-pay subscribers in its Pandora music streaming business though, ending September with 6.5 million total users. Audio entertainment giant SiriusXM, the home of Howard Stern, said Thursday that it added 616,000 self-paying subscribers in its satellite radio unit in the third quarter, beating the 169,000 additions recorded in the same period in 2020 and exceeding its full-year growth target nine months into the year.
